Specialty Contact lenses

Ready to see clearly?

Our doctors are trained to fit a wide array of contact lenses. Depending on each individual’s eye health and prescription needs, our doctors will determine the best type of contact lenses to fit. In addition to commonly prescribed soft contact lenses, some of the specialty fittings we offer include:

·         Rigid Gas Permeable Lenses

·         Scleral Contact Lenses

·         Ortho-K Lenses

Our Rigid Gas Permeable, Scleral Contact Lenses, and Ortho-K lenses are always ordered and made specifically for your eye shape and prescription. For more information on if these lenses are right for you, please talk to your doctor during your next eye health exam.

Orthokeratology

For those with mild or moderate myopia, Orthokeratology (ortho-K) can be a great option for vision correction. This treatment option is also mainstay for slowing and in some cases preventing, the rapid progressing myopia in children.

Ortho-K utilizes gas-permeable contact lenses worn overnight to reshape the contour of the cornea. These specially designed and highly breathable lenses work to temporarily reverse the effects of myopia during the night so the wearer can experience clear vision the following day—without the use of glasses or contacts.

Schedule with one of our doctors today and they will help you to determine your candidacy, costs, benefits, and risks to consider.

Scleral Lenses

Scleral lenses are a great option for people who otherwise may not be able to wear contacts or glasses to see clearly. Sclerals have a larger diameter than other Rigid Gas Permeable lenses, designed to vault over the entire corneal surface, sitting on the white part of the eye (the sclera).

These lenses often benefit those with irregular corneal surfaces such as keratoconus and individuals with dry eyes due to ocular surface disease.

For more information on scleral lenses to assess your candidacy, schedule a consultation or ask doctor during your next eye health exam.

Rigid Gas Permeable Lenses

Rigid Gas Permeable (RGP) are made of a hard, breathable material that maintains its shape with each blink. For some patients, this may mean sharper vision than what can be offered with soft contact lenses.

RGPs are typically worn during the day and replaced on an annual basis.

To see if RGPs may be a good option for you, schedule a consultation or ask one of our doctors at your next eye exam!
